Hyundai Aura compact sedan launched at Rs 5.79 lakh
The Aura is Hyundai’s latest Grand i10 based compact sedan and it has been launched in India at Rs 5.79 lakh, ex-showroom, pan India, for the base petrol manual E trim. Hyundai is targeting the Aura at young millennials and gets as many as 12 segment first features and multiple powertrain options including a first-in-class turbo petrol engine. The Hyundai Aura sqaures up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo.
Design
The Aura sports Hyundai’s latest design language christened ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ which we first saw in the latest generation of the Sonata which is sold internationally. Upfront, the design is highligted by twin boomerang shaped DRLs integrated in the cascading satin grille. There are also projector headlamps and fog lamps and Z-shaped LED tail lamps. Further complimenting this modern design are 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and plenty of chrome and glossy black treatment all around.
Powertrain
Potential buyers will have plenty of engine options to choose from. The Aura is offered with a 1.2-litre ECOTORQ diesel engine, a Kappa series 1.0-litre turbo GDI petrol engine from the Venue and a standard 1.2-litre petrol mill. All of these engines are BS6 compliant and the diesel mill is in fact the only 1.2-litre diesel engine in the country as of now that complies with the latest emmission norms. The 1.2-litre petrol engine churns 82bhp and 114Nm of torque.
For those looking for better performance, there’s the 1.0-litre turbo GDI engine that pumps 99bhp and and 172Nm of torque. However the popular choice for this segment is the diesel engine and in the Aura it makes 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines are offered with five-speed manual and automatic transmissions while the 1.0-litre turbo GDI motor can only be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Features
There’s a plethora of segment first features in the Aura, 12 to be precise. Some of the key ones include a wireless smartphone charger, emergency stop signal (flashes tail lamps in case of panic braking) and an Arkamys sound system among others. It also borrows the 8.0-inch touchscreen from the Grand i10 NIOS that’s integrated with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition and Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car system.
