Young rider Rakshith Dave made history with a double win at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia

Indian motorcycle racing talent is making a huge splash in the racing world. There was no better proof of this than at the first round of the Malaysian Superbike Championship, which took place at the famous Sepang International Circuit, a former F1 and MotoGP track. Indian team CRA Motorsports India arrived with a healthy roster of riders, with four riders across classes. All riders rode in the 250cc class, further divided into classes A and B. Team CRA Motorsports India was represented by Ashish Patel, Ramesh Rohan and Abhinav Gunasekeran in Class A while Rakshith Dave spearheaded the challenge in class B. The first round had two races

It was an excellent weekend for young rider Rakshith Dave, who qualified as the highest-placed Class B rider, and then stormed to wins in both race 1 and race 2, stamping his authority on the competition and coming out as the dominant rider of the class. He now holds a huge 14-point lead over second place in the rider’s championship.

Meanwhile, in Class A, the three riders from CRA Motorsports had a tougher time, as they battled through the grid to score good points. In race 1, Ashish Patel, Ramesh Rohan and Abhinav Gunasekeran finished line astern in P5, P6 and P7. Ramesh Rohan and Abhinav Gunasekeran repeated their performance with the same points in race 2 as Ashish Patel had to face an unfortunate crash.

CRA Motorsports India has set a goal to develop more and more young Indian riding talent which can go across the world and compete with the best of the best. Seeing as how India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world, a little bit of “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” would do good for the Indian enthusiast. As the season goes on, we can’t wait to see the development of these young riders and their talent!
