2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V launched at Rs 1.31 lakh
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is the most well-rounded offering in its segment. Last year, it won our mega 200cc naked comparison test, outshining rivals like the KTM 200 Duke. Now in the wake of TVS clocking the four million sales milestone for the Apache series, the brand has launched the 2021 RTR 200 4V at Rs 1.31 lakh, ex-showroom with three new features to augment its appeal. It gets preload adjustable Showa forks upfront, riding modes and adjustable brake and clutch levers.
The three riding modes are Rain, Urban and Sport. In the Rain and Urban mode, power and torque get restricted to 17bhp and 16.51Nm while in the Sport mode the 197.7cc engine puts out a maximum oomph of 20.5bhp and 17.25Nm. The figures in Sport mode are 0.3bhp and 0.45Nm more than the dual channel model it replaces. There’s no ride-by-wire so the tweaking to the power and torque delivery in each mode has been done by changing the engine mapping. According to TVS, the ABS also behaves differently in these modes. In Rain mode, it’s very sensitive while in Sport mode it is the least intrusive, allowing some amount of rear wheel slip.
The Apache RTR 200 4V also gets first-in-class preload adjustable front suspension along with first-in-class three-step adjustable brake and clutch levers. And lastly there’s a spanking new matt-blue colour, inspired by the OMC race bike that adds a touch of elegance to the sporty and aggressive looking RTR 200 4V. That said, the RTR 200 4V continues to get premium features like LED headlamps, Bluetooth, slipper clutch and dual channel ABS among others.
Thanks to the upgrades the motorcycle is now 1kg lighter and also slightly more powerful. 0-100kmph comes in 12.78 seconds and TVS also claims that the Rain and Urban riding modes provide five per cent improvement in fuel economy.
Bookings are open for the feature loaded TVS Apache RTR 200 4V today onwards and this motorcycle will replace the existing dual channel variant. With the upgrades, the Apache RTR 200 4V is now even better equipped to lock horns with rivals like KTM 200 Duke, Hero Xtreme 200R, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the Honda Hornet 2.0.
