Mercedes-Benz India announces launch of GLC 400 4MATIC Electric on November 4, 2026
The GLC Electric is set to be locally produced and will compete with BMW iX3 LWB
Mercedes-Benz India is ready to launch its new GLC 400 4MATIC Electric SUV in India on November 4, 2026. Its manufacturing will be localised out of the plant in Chakan, Maharashtra, India. The GLC 400 will be driven via dual motors with AWD, rated for an output of 483bhp and 800Nm of torque. It does the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 4.3 seconds and has a 210kmph top speed. Mercedes-Benz promises a 715km WLTP range on a single charge from its 94kWh battery pack.
In the exterior, the heritage-inspired, big front grille dominates the aesthetics. It features 942 illuminated dots, capable of being animated in various configurations. On the inside, the highlight is a new 39.1-inch Hyperscreen (10.3-inch driver + 14-inch central infotainment + 14-inch passenger), powered by the 4th-gen MBUX. Merc’s upcoming electric SUV will only be available in SWB bodystyle, but it will still compete with BMW iX3 LWB as Santosh Iyer, CEO of Mercedes-Benz India claims that the standard wheelbase model is big enough to be competitive with the rival’s offering. We’re expecting it to be priced in the ₹84 lakh to ₹86 lakh range.
