Shifting gears and moving into what it’s calling its ‘scaling up’ stage, Stellantis India announced plans to introduce a dozen new products to Indian consumers by 2030. These will include products that will be designed and developed in India, not just for Indian consumers but also for export to other countries. The announcement comes close on the heels of the technical partnership announcement with Tata Motors.

The new product line up will include five new Jeeps and seven new Citroen vehicles of which seven will be completely new products. These include products for the B, C and D segments as well as a D-segment pick-up truck for Jeep. These are in addition to the existing portfolio comprising the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler. For Citroen, expect a new car for the A-segment, an SUV for the C-segment and an MPV for the D-segment. The first of these new products are scheduled for a commercial introduction in the second quarter of 2027.

Some of these products will be newly developed in India and based on product technologies and vehicle architecture provided by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) as part of the agreement signed recently between the two entities. Stellantis’ ambitions revolve around a multi-pronged approach with the company planning to expand choice of powertrain options to not just ICE and EV but also hybrids and plug-in hybrids (PHEV).

The plan is to also establish India as its manufacturing and export hub, backed by a new investment of ₹4000 crore by 2030. This will take the group’s cumulative investment in the Indian market from ₹11,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore by 2030. These plans are part of Stellantis’ global Fastlane strategy that the company recently revealed in Paris on the sidelines of the Paris Motor Show. Included in this product and capacity expansion plan is growing the sales and service network, particularly deepening its footprint in tier 2, 3 and 4 cities across the country. Localisation is another big aspect of the strategy with Stellantis aiming for 95 per cent localisation in order to drive down product pricing and increase affordability for customers.

Citroen India is also planning to expand its portfolio with seven new models by 2030

“India has a dual role for Stellantis: it is an important market that we intend to grow in, and an increasingly significant capability base for the region and the wider Group. India is a long-term commitment for us, not just a volume chase. Under FaSTLAne 2030, our region-led model gives the India team greater ownership of decisions, and the roadmap we are announcing today reflects our long-term conviction in this market,” said Tianshu Xin, Chief Operating Officer, Stellantis Asia-Pacific Region on the significance of the Indian market in the bigger picture for the group.

Meanwhile Shailesh Hazela, CEO & Managing Director, Stellantis India also re-affirmed India’s role in the future plans of the Stellantis Group. “Our commitment to India will be measured by what we put on the road. Having built a strong foundation over the years, our focus now shifts to scaling the business. Twelve launches across Jeep and Citroën over the next three years will significantly broaden our market participation and give Indian customers more choice across segments and powertrains, supported by deeper localisation and a stronger sales and service network,” he said.
