Tiger 900, Street Triple R, Rocket 3 GT, T100 Black and T120 Black all set to make their debut in India
In a recent conversation with Shoeb Farooq, GM, Triumph Motorcycles India on our Instagram special #FBIConversations series, we learnt that the British bike maker will be launching five different models in India in 2020. The first launch will be that of the Tiger 900, followed by Rocket 3 GT, Street Triple R, T100 Black and T120 Black. Here’s all you need to know about the bikes:
Triumph Tiger 900:
Triumph’s Tiger 800 is probably one of the most popular ADVs in the country and it wasn’t a surprise for us when Triumph announced that its new-generation - the 900 would be coming to our shores soon. The Tiger 900 has been completely overhauled and now features a very lean and purpose-built stance. Triumph has also re-machined the cylinder block and increased the volume, refining the firing order even. All of which results in a better delivery at low RPMs. In terms of features, the Tiger 900 comes loaded with goodies as expected and Triumph will be launching the fully-loaded Rally Pro version in India as well. We expect the Tiger 900 to be expensive by at least 50,000 over its predecessor, so start saving up right away!
Triumph Rocket 3 GT:
Triumph has already launched the Rocket 3 R in the country and the GT is nothing but a touringfriendly variant of the mental machine. The GT variant gets a low seat (lower by 23mm) but is heavier by 3kg owing to the additional bodywork which includes a brushed aluminium backrest, touring seat and swept back handlebar. The foot pegs are forward set unlike on the R variant. Expect the GT variant to cost slightly more than the R though.
Triumph Street Triple R:
Triumph hasn’t unveiled the Euro5 spec version of the Street Triple S which means we would be seeing the R variant of the middleweight in India as well. The Moto2-derived inline three-cylinder 765cc engine continues to produce 114bhp at 12,000rpm and 77.28Nm at 9,400rpm, however, Triumph claims to have shaved seven per cent of the rotational inertia in the triple, resulting in a snappier throttle. It gets the same body work as the RS including adjustable suspension and even Brembo M4.32s. The R variant will sit between the R and RS and would cost around Rs 10.5 lakh when it goes on sale.
Triumph Bonneville T100 and T120 Black
The Black edition of both the authentic Bonnies as the name suggests comes with jet black colour scheme that pays tribute to the original 1959 model and should cost slightly more than the regular variants.
