Kia India has unveiled the Carens Clavis, which will be an extension in the Carens lineup. It gets a host of new features like ADAS level 2, panoramic sunroof and more, updated styling, and three engine options. Bookings open tonight (May 9) on the Kia India website for ₹25,000. The Carens Clavis continues to be offered with three rows, similar to the Carens.

Kia Carens Clavis design

The Kia Carens Clavis gets updated styling with redesigned headlamps and tail lamps, giving it a more premium and modern appearance. It also aligns with the Kia family’s design language. On the rear, you get the Starmap LED connected tail lamps. You get different wheel designs, and the wheel sizes now range from 15-inch to 17-inch depending on the variant. The overall silhouette remains familiar, but the design tweaks add a sharper look to the MPV.

Inside, the Kia Carens Clavis brings in significant upgrades. It now features twin 12.5-inch screens – one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for infotainment. Like the new Verna, it features the swap switch between climate and media controls. You also get an 8-speaker Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, air purifier, 64-colour ambient lighting, auto-dimming IRVM, and a dashcam. The first row features ventilated seats, and the second row gets electronic tumble function and cooled cup holders. Addition of a 360-degree camera and level 2 ADAS make it one of the most feature-rich offerings in its class.

Kia Carens Clavis powertrain

The Carens Clavis continues with the same powertrains with two petrol engines and one diesel engine on offer – 1.5-litre turbo-petrol: 158bhp, 253Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol: 113bhp, 144Nm, and 1.5-litre diesel: 114bhp, 250Nm. The turbo-petrol engine can be mated to either a 6-speed MT, 6-speed IMT, or a 7-speed DCT. The NA petrol engine can only be paired with a 6-speed MT, while the diesel engine can be paired with either a 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT.

Kia Carens Clavis price and rivals

While pricing for the Kia Carens Clavis will be revealed closer to launch, bookings open at midnight today (May 9) for ₹25,000. The Carens Clavis will go up against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Hyundai Alcazar, and Toyota Rumion, but continues to carve a niche for itself with a long features list and versatile engine options.
